The Response
Academic Monitoring - Flipping focus from teacher practice to student work when conducting observation and coaching teachers to provide more time for work and feedback
Weekly Data Meetings - weekly one-on-one meetings to analyze the data to identify the gap and plan to address the gap.
Looking to ELA Checkpoint 3: We continue with practice clinics for the aspect of the curriculum. We are practicing using the assessments to gather data. We are focusing on extended response answers. Our intervention structure now incorporates daily virtual tutoring through Ignite, funded by the Lilly grant. We have seen a strong impact on data from this program before.
Looking to Math Checkpoint 3: We are still working on deeply understanding the math standards. We are perfecting the systems for implementing math screeners and interventions
ELA Checkpoint - Growth in 3rd, 4th, and 6th.
We continue to look for support for 5th grade and 7th, both cohorts struggle with foundation skills.
Special populations: We saw MLL growth between checkpoints. We continue to focus on making sure our special populations are within 10 points of our white population.
Math Checkpoint - Most grade levels stayed the same or showed some growth.
MLL & ACT - Sustainsial growth with MLL students. Growth with ACT students too.
MOY DIBELS - Phonemic awareness & word recognition - Growth across the board, but we are paying close attention to K and 1st with an instructional coaching visit to look at what those strong teachers are doing. Those teachers will have a practice clinic tomorrow focusing on research of repeated trials and the hierarchy of acquisition.
Thinking about students in middle school receiving intervention, research suggests that the work takes multiple years to build back those foundational skills
MClass Math - This is the first time we have been able to do BOY and MOY math checkpoint data. We see strong growth. We don't have 6th-8th data yet because it is a new product and we are part of a pilot program, but the window for testing doesn't close until the end of January, and data is released until the window closes.
