  A. Governance Training Discuss Andria Wisler 5 m

There is a NEW mandatory board governance training - D.C. Law 26-38 Board of Trustees Amendment Act of 2025.

All DC public charter school trustees (board members) must complete this approved governance training. Board members serving on or before December 31, 2026 (all of us) must complete the required training between October 19, 2026 and April 1, 2027. There are three ways to complete the training:

  • A - Online, self-paced: 3 modules
  • B - Whole-board in-person training (GGA would hire an eligible trainer)
  • C - In-person sector training: upcoming Tuesday, November 17 from 8:30am - 12:00pm (more details forthcoming)

I suggest that each of us pursue A or C.

For A - you should have received an email with the subject "Welcome to DC PCSB" on Friday October 16 with a link that is good for 7 days. That link brings you to a page to reset your password using your GGA email address. Once you reset the password, you will have access to the portal with the 3 modules. It was announced at the DCPCSB meeting that each module is 1 - 1.5 hours total.

What does each school need to do?

  • Confirm that every current trustee is aware of the requirement and applicable deadline.
  • Determine whether trustees will complete the DC PCSB online training, participate in an in-person sector session, or receive whole-board training from an eligible external trainer.
  • Establish a process for promptly notifying new trustees of the 90-day requirement.
  • Maintain accurate trustee contact information so that training instructions and reminders reach the appropriate individuals.
  • Monitor completion and follow up with trustees before their deadlines.

Please let me know what questions you have!
