  A. Purchase of bus Vote Ilya Soroka 1 m

During the last board meeting, the board approved the purchase of a school bus. After further consultation with school principals and sports coordinators, it has been determined that purchasing two 15-passenger vans would be a more efficient solution. These vans do not require a CDL to operate, allowing more flexibility in staffing, and they can be used by multiple teams simultaneously.

The cost of new Sprinter vans, equipped with rear storage space for luggage, is approximately $80,000 each. While it seems a lot of money, the service and maintenance for these vans are projected to be 3-4 times less expensive than that of a traditional school bus. We might explore more affordable, used vans or considering slightly smaller models that can still accommodate 15 passengers.

We request the board's approval to purchase two 15-passenger vans instead of a school bus. The cost not to exceed $160,000 for both. We ask the board to approve financing/(commercial lease) the vans if we find it to be more beneficial for the schools at the interest rate not to exceed 8% and for no longer than 5 years.
