  A. Re-Appointment of Board Member Heather Kruse to a Partial Three-Year Term Vote KELLY SIMON 5 m

Board Member Heather Kruse joined the Bridges Charter School Board of Directors in November 2023 to fill a seat vacated as permitted under Board Policy 9221. With that term now concluding, Ms. Kruse has expressed her interest in continuing her service. Under BP 9221, directors serve three-year terms and may serve no more than three consecutive terms; Ms. Kruse is therefore eligible for re-appointment.

Ms. Kruse addressed the Board publicly at its August 10th meeting to state her interest in continuing her service.

It is recommended that the Board approve the re-appointment of Heather Kruse to the Board of Directors for a partial three year term with the expiration to align with our Board re-election window. With approval, her term will be effective 10/12/2026 through 06/30/2029.

X. Special Projects/Programs 7:14 PM
  A. Approval of Live Scan Fee Reimbursement for California Lutheran University Student Teachers Vote Kelly Simon 5 m

To protect students and limit the school’s liability, Bridges requires any volunteer who works alone with students to complete a Live Scan background check through the California Department of Justice and the FBI. Because these results are confidential, organizations cannot share them with one another. As a result, student teachers who must complete hours at more than one site often pay Live Scan fees several times in a single year.

In support of our partnership with California Lutheran University, Bridges administrators request that the Board approve up to $1,000 annually to reimburse Live Scan fees for CLU student teachers placed at Bridges.

Approval is recommended.
